But uh… Why?

Many of us grew up in the Australian bush or beachside where mums and dads would administer their own kind of home-grown remedies (some weird, others reliable) whenever we rolled in the back door with scratches and grazes. If we didn’t want to go home just yet, we’d apply a bit of our own DIY-first-aid with a solid lick or bit of spit to kill the germs. She’ll be right, mate!

Well, turns out we weren’t too wrong – spit does have antibacterial properties. But right under our noses all along was tea tree oil. Ten times better than spit! Mother nature is an experienced healer, oh yes she is.

Australian Tea Tree oil is seriously amazing stuff, a natural antibacterial and has been used for centuries by our first nations people to sooth and support healthy wound healing.

Tea Tree oil contains a compound (terpinen-4-ol) that has been shown to kill certain bacteria, viruses and fungi. Terpinen-4-ol also increases the activity of white blood cells which help fight germs and other nasties. That’s the basis of our beaut balm and natural anti-bacterial hand wash in supporting your skin post tatt – promoting clean and healthy wound healing whilst enhancing the colour of your ink and condition of your skin.

Our research into Spit has taken two years. Testing, checking sustainability, formula stability, active ingredients, safety, as well as comparing Tea Tree oil with other well-known botanical extracts that have antibacterial properties.

Tea Tree oil is also pretty damn effective in keeping the mozzies away too!

So, er… That’s why.
