The Science behind Spit

Now, it may not seem like it from looks alone but Spit is full of natural goodies. The carefully formulated list of ingredients we use to create Spit has been scientifically formulated AND has clinical evidence to prove that it actually is anti-bacterial and the perfect formula for supporting healthier skin and ink definition

Want to learn some more about some of these ingredients?

Your answer doesn’t matter… we are going to tell you anyway!

First cab off the rank is Potassium Oleate. This is a form of fatty (oleic) acid that occurs naturally in various animal and vegetable fats and oils. It is emollient - meaning that it’s responsible for making your skin feel soft and silky after you use Spit.

Keeping up with this ‘potty’ trend, we bring you Potassium Cocoate. Go nutty for this one as it is derived from 100% natural coconut oil and consists of a mixture of fatty acids. It’s a surfactant - meaning that it makes all the bubbles in Spit handwash.

Now onto something sweet and fancy-sounding - Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis. Or if you don’t want to try and say that just call it 'Sweet Almond Oil Emollient'. This oil contains Vitamin E - which keeps your skin cells healthy, protects your skin from UV radiation damage, and even helps your skin look smooth, soft and free of fine lines. The fatty acids help your skin retain moisture and can heal chapped and irritated skin. It is a wonder ingredient - what can’t it do?!

Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba. Hard to spell and even harder to say… so just call it Guar Gum Thickener. Guar Gum is a resinous material made from the guar bean - which grows in the semi-arid regions of Australia. It is commonly used as a thickener in foods such as salad dressings, ice cream and soups… we wouldn’t recommend switching it out for your regular ‘chewie’ though.

This next ingredient is our favourite: Melaleuca Alternifolia, which is better known as Tea Tree. We use Tea Tree Leaf essential oil in Spit. This oil is distilled from the leaves of the Tea Tree plant, which is found all across Australia. The oil possesses antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties… it is a super ingredient that we love!

Now we could list a few more… Cocamidopropyl betaine, Backhousia citriodora (Lemon Myrtle) oil Aroma, Potassium citrate, but we won’t! You've probably got the message, and those names are long and confusing!

What you do need to know is that all of Spit's ingredients are natural and they all work together to help make Spit bloomin’ fabulous!
